(Detroit, MI) -- General Motors is pulling the plug on the European version of the Chevy Volt. The automaker says disappointing sales of the Opel Ampera are forcing their hand to scrap the car and work on a replacement to be introduced sometime in the next four years. GM's Opel division is planning to introduce 27 new vehicles between now and 2018, and a new electric vehicle will be among them. The Ampera is built at the Detroit-Hamtramck Assembly plant along with the Volt.
