(Detroit, MI) -- A 148-million dollar manufacturing institute is coming to Corktown in Detroit. The American Lightweight Metals Manufacturing Innovation Institute had originally been slated to operate in Canton. The facility is one of four in the country being funded by a federal grant as part of an initiative to upgrade manufacturing in the U.S. The Institute will be based in a 90-thousand-square foot building on Rosa Parks that has been empty since 2001.
