In ISIS Fight, State Dept Cites Success Against Al-Qaeda
(Washington, DC) -- State Department spokesperson Marie Harf says the U.S. has significantly degraded the leadership and financing of al-Qaeda.
She cited al-Qaeda as an example of success while being pressed about the fight against ISIS. Harf argued that the U.S. has a variety of tools to go after international terrorist networks and will not hesitate to use them. ISIS militants have been rampaging through Syria and Iraq. The U.S. has launched numerous airstrikes against ISIS targets in northern Iraq in recent weeks.
