(Roseville, MI) -- A Clinton Township man is facing charges in connection with a 1998 rape after new DNA evidence surfaced in the cold case. Yesterday, 44-year-old Michael Loftis was arraigned on first degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping counts. Loftis is accused of abducting a 62-year-old woman as she left a bingo game at Sacred Heart Church in Roseville in July of 1998 and then allegedly raping her in the parking lot of a nearby store. Loftis was a registered sex offender and had to submit DNA to officials when he later moved to California. Authorities say his DNA matched evidence taken from the woman's clothing in the 1998 case. He is being held on a one-million-dollar bond.
