(Detroit, MI) -- A federal appeals court judge has set Thursday as the deadline for bankruptcy eligibility challenges. Late Tuesday, Judge Julia Smith Gibbons issued a letter challenging creditors to decide within 48 hours if they'll continue to contest Detroit's eligibility for bankruptcy and its plan to slash pensions. The letter was reportedly issued after four creditor groups postponed an appeals hearing slated for Wednesday. Creditors will have until the close of business Thursday to decide whether they will drop their challenges to U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Steven Rhodes' prior ruling in the city's favor.
